Nehemiah House Ministries was founded in the home of Pastor Maurice Bryson in September of 1999. We initially started with 6 people in a bible study group, with no intention of becoming a church. After being led by God to start a new ministry, we did so, thus the inception of Nehemiah House Ministries birthed.

Our first church service was held in the auditorium of Matthew Henson Elementary School in 1999. We stayed there approximately 8 months, setting up and breaking down the equipment for our service every Sunday.  From Matthew Henson elementary school we moved to 2877 W. Lafayette Avenue. We were welcomed by into the neighborhood by Father Sam Lupico of St. Edwards Church and remained there for 4 years. The community was amazed that we renovated a dilapidated old store front building in 30 days and transformed it into a house of worship. We worked diligently in the community, established relationships with the existing churches and transformed a major ‘drug’ corner into a safe and pleasant area. We also founded and hosted a basketball league with 5 neighborhood elementary schools while at Lafayette Avenue.
From Lafayette Avenue we moved to the Rock Independent Academy on Rutherford Road in Woodlawn and were able to hold services in their building for 1 year. Unfortunately, the Rock Academy dissolved and closed its doors permanently. We then moved within the same area and relocated to 7131 Liberty Road and remained there 1 year.
With each move the need to purchase a property and control our destiny became increasingly magnified. After many meetings coupled with prayer and fasting we decided to purchase a property and root ourselves in a community. After diligently researching properties we purchased a property in February of 2006 located at 7929 Liberty Road in Windsor Mill where we currently reside.

“So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.”
